Dr. Senanu Ashiabor

Dr. Ashiabor has been involved in several interesting transportation planning and modeling projects for the past ten years.  At Dowling he refined an algorithm to generate speeds from detector data.  The algorithm was used to develop GIS based speed maps of arterial streets in the city of Los Angeles.  He also developed a queuing model for airport terminal parking as part of the ACRP 7-02 Guidebook on Analysis of Airport Curbsides and Terminal Area Roadways.  He was part of the Dowling SHRP 2 research working on Analytical Procedures for Determining Impacts of Reliability Mitigation Strategies.  Dr Ashiabor is currently working on NCHRP 3-97 research on Signal Timing with Varying Demand and Capacities, the results will be incorporated into upcoming chapters of the Highway Capacity Manual.

Dr. Ashiabor is involved in various Transportation Research Board (TRB) activities.  He was on the ACRP panel developing the recently published Guidebook for Conducting Airport User Surveys.  He is the webmaster and a member of TRB’s Aviation Systems Planning Committee (AV020).  He has authored six peer reviewed publications and presented his work at several technical conferences.  Dr. Ashiabor is currently a Senior Transportation Researcher at Dowling Associates Inc.
